Lead Extraction From Crt Glasses

Chemical extraction analyses were conducted on colour CRT funnel glass and neck glass in order to quantify the rates of lead release at pH's of 4.3 and 9 and also in acetate and citrate buffers, as functions of temperature and time; and to estimate the total lead leached in 1000 years. The high pH medium leaches considerably more lead than the other media, however, a barrier layer was formed which may inhibit further leaching.
