The Lead Content Of Food Containers: Environmental, Hygienic-Sanitary And Regulative Aspects (In Italian)

A number of recent regulations concerning the disposal of packages and the controversies arisen in the USA on the release of lead from crystal glass gave rise to perplexities as to the diffused use of glass as a safe container for food. In this review the migration values of the main heavy metals present as traces in the composition of the base glass are compared with the safety limits established by EPA and FDA for drinkable and bottled water respectively.
