Largest Slipcast Glass-Melting Tank Floater.

A floater measuring 16in x 24 in x 196 in over-all, the largest for glass- melting tanks ever made in one continuous pour at the Christy Works, St. Louis, of H.K. Porter Refractories Division, was recently delivered to the new Mt Zion, Illinois, plant of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. Weighting approximately 6000lb unburned the floater was made from a clay mix specially prepared in vacuum and then slip cast.
