Laminate Performance Results Of Metal-Free And Colour Neutral Solar-Reflecting Film

It has been demonstrated that laminates manufactured with solar reflecting technologies can reduce cabin air temperatures and improve customer comfort and fuel economy. Often environmental test chambers are used to quantify performance. An all-polymeric solar reflecting film (SRF) has unique optical and electromagnetic properties. The SRF reflects solar infrared energy while maintaining high visible light transmission and colour neutrality. This feature allows colour design flexibility in solar reflecting laminates. Details on the colour and electromagnetic response of SRF laminates, along with why differences in environmental test chamber lamps can influence perceived vehicle performance, are described.
