[Kyrgyzstan] Ebrd Finances Float Plant Upgrade

The EBRD is supporting the modernisation of Interglass, the largest industrial glass manufacturer in Central Asia, with a 10M/Euros loan to upgrade the plant's facilities. Interglass is a wholly-owned subsidiary of German firm Steinert Industries, and the biggest industrial enterprise in the Kyrgyz Republic, producing around 10M sq/m glass annually. The proceeds of the EBRD loan will be used to upgrade equipment and improve energy efficiency. Steinert Industries will co-fund the project with 3.8M/Euros in equity investment. The project will help raise production capacity by a third, to around 600/tpd, while significantly reducing the production costs and improving quality of the glass. The upgrade will also double the service life of the furnace to around 12 years.
