The Kyoto Protocol has been in effect since January 2005 and there are still many questions that need to be answered regarding the price of CO2 in the next years and if it is worthwhile to invest in CDM/JI projects. The EU-ETS market has demonstrated a typical volatile trend of the quantity of CO2 traded and its price, which has been influenced by different factors. This article gives us an idea of the importance of marginal abatement cost curves to minimise costs of compliance to Kyoto targets.
