[Japan] Central Glass Announce Halt At Yamaguchi Plant

On 2nd March, Central Glass Co. announced it would stop glass production for more than a year at its plant in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, most likely from May, company sources said. The move is in response to shrinking domestic demand from the automobile and construction industries. The Ube plant has a capacity of 500/tpd. From June 2009, the firm also announced plans to cease production of figured glass at its plant in Matsuzaka, Mie Prefecture, for at least a year.
