Italy Urged To Scrap Ruling On Cork Closure For Docg Wines

Liberty wines is calling on the Italian government to abolish a decree that forces all DOCG wines to use a natural cork closure. MD David Gleave wrote a letter petitioning the Italian minister for agriculture to revoke the decree, and sent it to Liberty's customers and to journalists in a bid to get support for his campaign. He said: "Ever the optimist, I'm hoping that we can get enough people to write to the minister to make him consider revoking the decree & give Italian producers the same freedom to choose their preferred closure as producers in all other countries have. One of the things that led us to write the letter was the fact that our customers are so much in favour of screwcap & they would rather have a choice in what they can buy."
