[Iran] New Float Plant Goes Onstream

Iran's first Vice President officially inaugurated the Middle East's largest and most advanced float glass factory in Qazvin, northwest Iran in April. Construction at the factory started 6 years ago at a cost of US$300M, with a capacity to produce 180,000/tpa. The project will create a total of 7,550 direct and indirect jobs. The export of 30% of the factory's products to EU countries including Germany, France and the UK is expected to earn US$25M annually. The second phase of the factory will be inaugurated in the next 2 years costing US$150M.
