Developments continue apace in the Iranian glass industry. Following on from the establishment of the country's first float glass line in 2000, more new factories have recently been completed and are either just finishing, or have just finished, commissioning. In Kerman, south-eastern Iran, a new safety glass production facility has just been inaugurated. The plant has the capacity to produce a variety of safety glasses ranging from 5-10mm in thickness. In the opposite corner of the country, in the city of Khoi in Iran's north-eastern region, another new company has commenced operation with the aim of providing both double-glazed and automotive glass. Equipped with Italian-made machinery, the factory will start by producing double glazed glass and then move on to the automotive range at a later date.
