Investment And Merger

Allied Glass Containers is a new name in the glass industry. Formed by the merger of sister companies Gregg & Co and Lax & Shaw, the two Yorkshire-based container manufacturers have just created a new £60m company, capable of producing in excess of 650m glass containers/year and employing more than 700 people. Just prior to the merger announcement, Gregg had completed an extensive rebuild project at its Knottingley plant, worth over £15m, to create a more modern and efficient glass production unit. In this paper Chief Executive of Allied Glass Containers, Andrew Spencer, talks about the rebuild and the way ahead for the new company.
