Investigation Of Flow In Glass Tanks By Use Of Physical Models

Fluid flow and convective heat transfer in a tank furnace can be investigated in a physical model by means of dimensions analysis based on the Reynolds, Froude, and Grashof numbers. Radiant heat transfer can be accounted for thought the concept of radiation conductivity and a corresponding coefficient is defined. It is important to match the Prandtl number but, because of the strong temperature dependence of radiation, an exact match is possible only in localised regions of the model.
