[Insulating Glass] Parts May Be Obscure Compliance

A declaration of compliance to BS EN1279 Part 5 does not necessarily mean that a sealed unit manufacturer has passed the important Part 3 of the standard, warns Steve Massey of Regency Glass. Regency Glass Ltd, one of the largest sealed unit manufacturers in the N West, announces that the company has passed the BSI test for gas filled units, BS EN1279 Part 3, several times. Part 3 relates to initial type of testing on gas-filled insulating glass units for gas concentration & gas leakage rate. Steve comments: "We originally passed EN 1279 Part 3 using aluminium spacer bar in 2007 & quickly added Thermix TXN warm edge spacer bar later the same year. In 2008 we submitted for Part 3 type test again, using Swiss Spacer V warm edge spacer bar & successfully passed this difficult test once more.
