Inspection For High Quality Container Production

In recent years, Japanese quality requirements for glass containers have increased considerably as local food and beverage manufacturers have maximised filling line speeds. In addition, consumers began to exhibit a growing awareness of appearance defects in glass packaging. It became imperative to reject such defects as checks and foreign particles that may cause bottle breakages, defects on sealing surfaces that can lead to leakage, as well as such defects as ribbon tears that may damage appearance. With no suitable inspection machine commercially available at that time, Toyo Glass began to develop their own inspection devices for their own plants. These devices have contributed significantly to the quality improvement of Toyo's glass containers including lightweight NNPB ware and are also appreciated by other domestic and international glass bottle manufacturers, as explained in this article.
