Innovation At Vetropack

Vetropack, the Swiss glassmaker, is operating Europe's first colouring forehearth that uses both frit and colouring concentrate to affect colouring whereas only the concentrate had previously been used. The equipment, supplied by Horn, has been installed at Vetropack's factory at Straza in Croatia. Horn supplied the forehearth; removed an existing forehearth from Vetropack's furnace; and installed the new system plus automatic measuring and control equipment. It also modified the heating for the additional section. Colouring forehearths usually need two extra sections but Horn was able to integrate an existing section of the working end to serve as a preheating section and so needed to add only one extra section. 4 stirring benches each have four stirrers and each device can be lifted off the forehearth.
