Infra-Red Transmitting Glasses Of High Refractive Index Based On The Bao-Tio2-Geo2 System

Glasses with RI 1.855-1.992, good chemical resistance and mechanical properties, relatively high deformation temperatures (700-783 degrees C) and thermal expansion coefficients 88-100 had compositions (mol%): 35-45 GeO2, 18-22 BaO, 10-30 TiO2, 7 La2O3, 3.5 ZrO2 with at least one of the group (3 ThO2, 1 Ta2O5, 2 PbO, 2 WO3, 10 ZnO, 4BaF2). Four specific compositions are quoted with liquidus 1105-1233 degrees C.
