Praxair has extensive experience in applying oxy-fuel combustion technology to glass melters. This includes both auxiliary oxy-fuel burner applications, and complete melter conversions to oxy-fuel. Auxiliary oxy-fuel burners have been applied to achieve increased pull with equal or improved glass quality. Typical results for recuperative and for end-fired and cross-fired regenerative melters are production increases of between 20 and 25%.
