Indonesia's glass industry has generally followed the economic conditions of the country, dipping in the early part of the decade and thereafter improving, along with the economy. The float glass industry experienced huge over-capacity during 2000-05 and exports formed a large proportion of total production. Conditions in the domestic market began to improve late 2004 due to recovery in the property sector. This article provides an overview of today's glass industry in Indonesia, discussing the main players in flat and container glass manufacture.
