PT Asahimas Flat Glass, a subsidiary of Asahi Glass Co Ltd, plans to build a new glass plant at a cost of $25M in 2009, a company official said. The new plant will produce energy-saving, chemical vapour deposition (CVD) flat glass for buildings, which the company said would be mainly exported to markets across the Asia Pacific region. "Between 75-80% of glass will be exported, while the remainder will be sold on the domestic market," said M Amien, sales and marketing manager of Asahimas. The project will be financed internally. According to consultants, the investment was opportune and would have good prospects. B Tri said of PT Actual Kencana Appraisal said: "The investment will have an internal rate return of 22.1% and a payback period of only 4 years."
