The second phase expansion of Saint Gobain Glass India, with production capacity of 800/tpd, is to be opened 16 Feb. With this expansion, the production capacity of Saint-Gobain at its Sriperumpudur complex would go up to 1450/tpd & investment to Rs 1400 crore. According to Mr B Santhanam, MD, the company has created "A world-class mega glass complex at Sriperumpudur". The state-of-the-art complex is also the single largest investment location for the euro 35BN SG-group. With the increased use of glass in the construction industry & because of the boom in the auto sector, demand for flat glass is growing at about 15% annually. The company has a vast range of glass & glass products including clear, bronze, dark grey, & green float glass. Saint Gobain India began production of float glass in its 650-tonne capacity unit in 2000.
