[India] Adding Value On The Sub-Continent

The Indian glass industry has been witnessing a boom for the last 7-8 years both in terms of volume of flat glass produced and new value added glass product launches. Statistics in terms of volume of flat glass produced by all the players are quite impressive. 2006 saw the commissioning of a new float line by Saint Gobain and on Jan 1st 2007, Asahi India began producing at its new site at Roorkee, near the capital New Delhi. There is a buzz that another two float lines of smaller capacity will begin operating before 2007 ends.
