Increased Flame Emissivity: Boosting Glass Melting Economics

A large portion of heat generated by the combustion of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels is transferred by radiation. This fact is of great importance from the viewpoint of potential fuel savings and the design of technological equipment. This article describes experiments conducted with high temperature combustion air natural gas burners, tested under production conditions on a large regenerative tank furnace.
