Increase Of Glass Production Efficiency And Energy Efficiency With Model-Based Predictive Control

In the past decade, advanced multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) process control systems have found their way into the glass industry. Today, a growing number of glass furnaces and forehearths have been equipped with a supervisory control system. Daily regulation of fossil fuel firing and electric energy supply to stabilise temperatures is no longer in the hands of the operator, but fully taken over automatically by the ES III MPC controller, which provides consistent process control, 24 hours per day, focused to operate the entire glass production process in the most efficient way.
