This article examines the important role of stacker bars in the production of container glass. Stacker bars are a basic and essential part of the container glass handling process. Their construction is relatively simple: a push bar manufactured from steel or stainless steel tubing or solid metal with a high temperature contact material mounted or attached to it. Stacker bars transfer newly-formed hot glass ware from the conveyor into the annealing lehr, where glass is tempered for strength and durability. The bars precisely stack the glassware into the annealing lehr - precise stacking is important to allow proper uniform coverage of cold end spray to all containers.
