Improving Glass Container Quality In The Nnpb Process With The Aid Of Technology Transfer

Numerous papers have been written regarding glass characteristics and its influence on the production of containers. The benefits of Press and Blow as compared to Blow and Blow are now well established. CAD and manufactures, together with simulation packages are being used in industry to the benefit of producing better quality containers with reduced scrap rates. This paper addresses some of the issues and presents scientific data which, if utilised systematically, should have a major impact on the future glass container industry. The information presented is the result of work carried out by the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, in collaboration with industry, and should prove to be useful to designers and manufacturing engineers in the glass container industry.
