Improving The Chemical Durability Of Lead Crystal Glass

A multidisciplinary experimental study and an industrial scale trial were conducted to improve the lead release properties of lead crystal glass. In carrying out the study, the limitations were to keep the melting and forming characteristics of the glass unchanged as much as possible, and to fulfill the requirements of the EEC Directive 69/493-EEC. Results indicate that a considerable improvement in lead release levels was obtained.
