Improvements In The Construction Of Glassmaking Float Bath Tanks.

Clay refractory blocks are bolted to the steel shell of a float bath tank by threaded studs, washers, and nuts; the studs being welded to the shell and terminating in openings below the level of the top of the blocks. A powerful material, not readily wettable by molten tin (such as graphite), fills the upper parts of these openings and reduces cracking of the blocks on pre heating the tank.
