Improved Mould Cooling For Is Machines

In this article the author explains how the development of a new mould cooling system can lead to advances in energy saving and reduced costs. Group Rondot has worked on the radial cooling application in order to improve its efficiency by reducing pressure losses and achieving a more efficient cooling application. Looking at the standard system in use today and, after taking some measurements, Rondot has identified that with the existing equipment, there is a loss of pressure between the section box and the cooling stack of +/-400mm WG (water gauge). To compensate for the pressure drop, glassmakers install larger cooling fans, increasing capacity of the cooling blower to deliver a higher air pressure & flow. Rondot engineers have found that the pressure drop is due to the design concept of the existing wind base.
