The Importance Of Understanding The Basic Quality Issues For Improving Technology In Glass Melting

Bubbles are frequent defects for glass producers, in most cases it is a small mystery where they have come from. Glass Service has developed a special technique and service to quickly analyse composition of gases within the bubble and based on that conclude the source of the defects. In this article we classify some different bubble sources and mechanism, as an example. Examples of modelling and bubble gas analyses using the GIA systems for single bubble categories and bubble source identification are discussed. The paper will also include photographs of several high temperature melting observations with different types of bubble nucleations.
