The Importance Of Dynamic Workability For Glass Manufacturing. Part 1: Principles

The concept of dynamic workability has to explain the expression "workability" and "dynamic". In normal use the word "workability" is used to describe the properties of the melt and tries to link certain difficulties in glass production with properties of the melt. This dimensional approach is not appropriate to the complexity of the glass manufacturing process for optimising certain physical qualities of the glass melt. Not the quality itself, but the time dependence of the change is decisive. This is what is meant by "dynamic", while "workability" describes the interaction between the melt properties and the production conditions or the engineering of the whole process. This paper hopes to clarify the subject and show the importance of the concept.
