Home products giant IKEA has made a worldwide announcement to recall its Parodi glass vases, which are reported to have a safety hazard. Seven customers in the United States reportedly sustained cuts when the base of the vase broke as it was being lifted. Five of those injured required hospital treatment. Following investigations, a number of vases have been found to have too much pressure in them which may increase the risk of breakage, especially if the glass is damaged in some way, for example by being knocked or scratched. The Parodi vases, which are made in Poland, have been sold in Ikea since April 2004. The vase is 70cm high and weighs approximately 5kg. The base diameter is 15cm while the top diameter is 23cm. It is available in black, white and clear glass
