The demand for glass of increasingly higher quality inevitably means that defects, their source and their properties, require investigation. This article attmepts to answer some of the factors that relate to the above statement and to demonstrate an approach to the problem by overviewing the whole field of technology involving bubble formation and the defects that result from the presence of bubbles in glass.
