Hydrofluoric Recipe To Clean Bloom From Quartz

This article originated from correspondence carried on e-mail by members of the ASGS. After the question was raised, four answers are published. The first suggests using a bath of Ammonium Bifluoride; the second suggests getting a copy of "Methods & Material Safety Hazards Book" published by the ASGS; the third uses a formula of 500ml Sulphuric, 400ml Nitric, 100ml HF and 9 litres distilled water; and the last comes from the USA where they are very concerned about environmental issues and suggest an different method altogether.
