Humans May Be Exposed To Bpa At Dangerous Levels

According to the "Scientific American", plastic food containers leach bisphenol A (BPA), a potentially harmful chemical that allegedly mimics estrogen and can reportedly promote human breast cancer cell growth as well as decreased sperm counts in rats, among other effects. BPA is used to line cans to prevent corrosion and is also used to make plastic cups and plastic baby bottles. A report in the journal Reproductive Toxicology found that humans could be exposed to levels of BPA at 10 times what the EPA has deemed safe because of the amount of the chemical found in tissue and blood samples.
