Hse - Everybody'S Business

Twin themes in the Health & Safety Commission's strategy for improving UK health & safety performance are enhancing director leadership of health & safety & strengthening workforce involvement. It is widely believed that an organisation's greatest asset is its workforce. Research has indicated that between 80-95% of all accidents are attributable to human error, but possibly caused by poor organisational and management control. Companies seeking to make their safety management systems more effective are involving their workers as the preferred way of improving safety performance, meaning that health & safety really does become "everybody's business". British glass are preparing a tool kit to assist members to implement workforce involvement schemes. This is expected to be available in November/05.
