How Stresses Develop During Heating Up Of Azs Fused-Cast Blocks

The heating-up period in a glass furnace campaign is a critical one regarding the thermo-mechanical behaviour of the refractory blocks lining the furnace. More than in any other aspect of the glass manufacturing process, the control of the heating up procedure has been a matter of experience more than science. VMC & SEPR have developed an approach that couples experiments and modeling calculations in order to improve the understanding of the thermo-mechanical behaviour of fused-cast AZS blocks during the heating up of glass furnaces.
