"Hot End" Glass Container Transferring On High Volume Flexible Production Lines

Continuous development of the feeder, gob delivery system and IS machine has enabled the production of quality glass containers of all shapes and sizes, on demand, using less material and at ever increasing speeds. However, to maintain its up-market image the glass packaging designers continue to test the skills of the glass producers by bringing out tall slender bottles that are difficult to handle from the IS machine into the lehr, and in particular for the ware transfer. Over the last five years, D A Oldfield Ltd, has focused on resolving ware transfer problems for frustrated glass container producers who continue to search for a universal transfer unit to satisfy a variety of needs. The problems associated with transferring all kinds of glass containers at medium to high speed and the need for job changes are looked at here.
