For the special glass industry in Europe, Germany is the most important location. With its 12 German manufacturing units, Schott has a significant share and a leading position. However, it is not Germany but Western Europe that has long been the "Home Market" for the group of copanies. 65% of its world turnover of some DM3bn is obtained here and around 13,000 of Schott's just under 18,000 work in Germany. Schott now has more than 30 sales and production companies in virtually every country in Europe, from Sweden to Italy, from Spain to the UK. This article briefly looks at the structure of the Schott Group throughout Europe.
