During the production of glass containers, micro-scratches are generated on the glass surface. Transport, packing and filling can propagate and new imperfections can be generated. To minimise these problems, a coating is applied in two steps: the hot end coating, directly applied after forming, and the cold end coating, applied immediately after annealing.
