High Temperature Properties Of Bioactive Glasses

Bioactive glasses are low in silica and thus, sensitive to any long exposure in the temperature range between transformation and liquidus. In this work, devitrification, viscosity and liquidus temperature of typical melt derived bioactive glasses are discussed. The observed differences in the high temperature properties can be traced back to the overall composition expressed as the primary crystalline phases formed at devitrification.
