High Performance Glazing: Safety Issues

The regulations concerning architectural glass being adopted by EC member countries include the description of products and their features, together with performance classification criteria. Safety issues relevant to individual architectural glazing systems are not considered and are the object of national legislation. The Italian reference standard is UNI 7697 (2002) "Safety Criteria for Glazing Applications." Its application is mandatory as to the prescriptions contained in Italian Decree DL115 enabling Directive 92/59/EEC "General Product Safety." The structure of the standard and application criteria are briefly described.
