Glazed areas play an essential role in the acoustic insulation of a building. To better understand the acoustic insulation performance of glazing as a function of the glass feature, it is necessary to evaluate the closure system as a whole, considering the interactions between the glass surface and the frame, as well as the system installation procedures: even a small discontinuity may considerably lower the performance of an advanced window. Current window glazing types are reviewed and compared with innovative solutions.
