Czech-based Sklostroj, is using the new Simotion system for the first time with an IS machine in Russia. The drive-based Simotion D435 system is used as an axis control and E-timer (electronic cam control system) in all sections. The closed-loop control module is directly integrated into the Sinamics S120 drive while simultaneously controlling the entire decentralised real-time I/O periphery. Sklostroj uses Simotion C S7-300 version for the 3-axis pushers using analogue stepper motors. Communication between Simotion controls and with the distributed Simatic ET 200M periphery is via Profibus DP with motion control profile. This is suitable for precisely synchronising several axes and reproducing in the micro-second range. Communication between the Simatic WinCC SCADA system and the individual control units is via industrial ethernet.
