High Index Glass Formation In The La2O3-B2O3 System

A base composition of La2O3.3B2O3 was used in which ZnO was substituted for B2O3 to enhance glass formation. Instead of heavy metal oxides, a small amount of TiO2 was partially substituted for boh B2O3 and La2O3 to provide improved physicochemical properties. The resulting glasses had RI around 1.75 and were stable against devitrification.
