Heating Of Glass-Forming Batch Blankets

This paper reports on the experimental determination and modeling of the thermal heat conductivity of glass batches in the solid-state regime. The apparent thermal heat conductivity of glass batches is modelled assuming that the heat flow through the glass batches can be regarded as heat flow through a continuous solid phase in which a gas phase is dispersed. With this model, the apparent thermal heat conductivity of glass batches as a function of the bulk density of the glass batch is predicted with an error of 2%.
