The Brunner Mond Group, one of the world's largest producers of soda ash, received an award for this safety initiative at a recent ceremony in Birmingham. The supplier won the award for Best Safety Initiative at the GLASS Charter Awards, part of the glass industry annual Health & Safety Conference. The GLASS (Goal:Less Accidents Safe Sites) Charger, British Glass' industry safety initiative, aims to reduce accidents across the industry by 30% over 10 years by helping companies to improve their health and safety performance through best practice, information exchange and advice. Brunner Mond Group has headquarters in the UK, where it has two plants and one also in the Netherlands and a facility in South Africa. The Group launched its safety project in January 2002, aiming to change safety performance across the company.
