Guardian Industries UK has completed the installation of its new off-line magnetron glass coater ahead of schedule. Installation has been signed off and the coater has been handed over to Guardian's process group and production team. David Younker, Guardian's VP of Engineering, visited the plant at Goole to see the coater as it neared completion. "The Guardian team have done an amazing job with the new coater installation," he said. "It's incredible that they have managed to fit such technically advanced equipment into such a restricted area, and its literally like fitting a 12oz egg into a 6oz shell." Technical advancements have broadened the scope for coated glass products, enabling Guardian to produce products like its SunGuard High Selective SN Series. These types of glass coatings require more chambers and equipment, and therefore a bigger coater.
