On 07 June/05, Mexican President Vicente Fox officially inaugurated Guardian Industries' 24th float glass plant in Querétaro, Mexico. Mark LaCasse, MD of Guardian's Latin American operations & Querétaro's Governor, Francisco Garrido, accompanied President Fox during his tour of Guardian's state-of-the-art facility. Construction of the $120 million manufacturing facility began in late July of 2003 & was completed a year later. The 12-month construction period made this plant the fastest float glass plant ever built by Guardian & reflects the competence of the Mexican construction industry & its workers. Following an extensive search that included other countries in the region & several Mexican states, Guardian chose to build in El Marqués based on its proximity to customers, a strong & energetic workforce & cooperative state & municipal governments.
