Group Optical Basicity Of Tellurite Glasses

The group basicities, ^, of TeO4, TeO4, TeO3 groups have been determined for binary tellurite glasses in the MeO-TeO2 (Me=Mg, Sr, Ba and Pb) systems from their refractive index based optical basicity, ^(n0), and fractions of the individual groups in the glass structure. Average values of group basicities namely ^TeO4 = 1.23, ATeO4=0.99 and ^TeO3-0.82 have been proposed which can be used for prediction of optical basicity of other tellurite glasses.
