Grinding Technology Improves Recycling Efficiency

A grinder that reduces cullet to powder and eliminates the necessity to use relatively costly separators for the removal of ceramics and metals is described. According to the author, only the glass content of the cullet is reduced to powder, which can be screened to eliminate contaminants. Reportedly powdered glass has no adverse effect on melting operations and glass quality is improved.
